About Us
We are a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to open a home in our community that will provide exceptional end-of-life care and support to terminally ill people in their final days of life, regardless of income and/or ability to pay.
While working with terminally ill individuals, we identified a need in our community. We want to serve people who have no reliable place to go or people to care for them. There are currently no other hospice medical facilities in Genesee or Lapeer counties.
Our approach uses a model that provides a “home away from home,” with caregivers who function as part of your extended family. All patients must qualify and be serviced by a Hospice company of the patient’s choosing. Our goal is to provide a quiet place with loving care, where families can be supported through this tough time.
We organized in 2018 and worked steadily on bringing our mission to life through the coordination of volunteers and fundraising. When our fundraising goal had been met, we began looking for a home to buy. We have been working hard to garner community support, renovate, and develop staff to open this summer. In recognition of those who made this possible, it will be called the LaVigne Home.
We are affiliated with the Omega Home Network. This organization shares common resources with all organizations that share the same mission of providing end-of-life resources and educating communities about living well through dying. family comments about our care
.“Thank you for taking such wonderful care of my brother Doug during his journey into the next chapter. I sent a few of the things you have on your Amazon wish list. It’s the only way I knew to let you know how much I appreciate everyone who cared for Doug.”
“I have been wanting to say “Thank you” all for the absolute amazing care you provided Douglas. The Entire staff cared for him as if he were your own family member. Never more than just a step away. Always, kind, gentle, compassionate and tender in their manner. Respectful and sympathetic when communicating with us on things we needed to know.
Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect when I walked in the door. It didn’t take long to see how blessed we truly were to have been there.
It takes very special people to do what you ladies do. Again, Thank you all so much.
“Thank you so very much my dear friend had her last days surrounded by family and friends and the utmost compassionate care thank you all”
“Dale meant so much to our community. He was a very special person. Thank you for caring for him and showing him the absolute best at the end of his life.”
“Thanks, Lisa. He was at the hospice home you suggested (we had 3 recommendations for them!). It was very nice, and the people were wonderful.”
Watching the interaction between Douglas and the angels caring for him will never be forgotten.
Crystal was with us when he passed. The images of the gentle way she caressed his hand brushed his teeth. Making him as comfortable as possible. Will be forever in my heart.
