Hospice Homes of Genesee and Lapeer Counties

Hospice Homes of Genesee and Lapeer Counties is a non-profit organization that established a donation-funded hospice guest home for terminally ill patients who are in need of a residence to live out their final days.

“Sunsets are proof that endings can be beautiful too”

The Problem

National surveys had shown that, if given a choice, most people would have preferred to die at home or in a home-like setting. Sadly, most people died in sterile acute care facilities. For many families, in-home care was not an option. Most families did not have the skill or knowledge to care for a dying family member. Family members, often separated by geography, did their best to care for their loved ones while juggling other responsibilities like children, jobs, and their own health challenges. The care of a terminally ill person was both physically and emotionally draining.
For-profit hospice facilities were often too expensive, and bed space was limited in subsidized facilities. Tragically, in the final days of their lives, many people found themselves with no place to go.

The Solution

Hospice Homes of Genesee and Lapeer Counties provides a non-medical hospice, “Guest House,” in Genesee County. Our home is just that, a place to call home when that extra help is necessary to keep you or a family member comfortable as one moves to the next journey. Our home is provided at no cost to its guests, offering a home-like environment where guests and their families would receive care and support. We provide the food, shelter, comfort care, and companionship to make this next journey as peaceful as possible.
